Single Vineyard Main Ridge Pinot Noir
Wine
Montalto Single Vineyard Main Ridge Pinot Noir is an impeccable example of cool climate Pinot Noir. It draws exclusively from the estate's Main Ridge Block on the Mornington Peninsula.
At 156 metres elevation, this block is one of Montalto's higher sites. Its altitude and exposure to southerly winds mean cooler ripening conditions, ideal for preserving delicate fruit aromatics.
Most of the hand sorted grapes are destemmed into open fermenters to soak before wild fermentation. The remainder begin their ferment as whole bunches, then are destemmed to complete the ferment.
After a week on skins, the wine is pressed to new and seasoned French oak for natural malolactic fermentation and 10 months of maturation.
Deep red purple, Montalto Single Vineyard Main Ridge Pinot Noir is intensely fragrant with spicy, earthy notes woven through a red fruit core. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
